Welcome to Brokenrope!

The Brokenrope Foundation was founded in 2004 by Nathan Brokenrope (Mdewakanton-Sioux/Oglala-Yankton) and Carol Anderson-Brokenrope (Cherokee) providing a resource for those interested in the Native American Culture and welfare.  In an effort to serve American Indians we have held powwows, gatherings, film festivals, and other events to keep our culture(s) alive and vibrant.  The Brokenrope Foundation is a 501c3 charitable nonprofit.

Our Goals...

Brokenrope Enterprises includes the Brokenrope Foundation, Trail of the Buffalo American Indian Museum, and Brokenrope Trucking and we are presently looking for office and museum space.

Our events are Intertribal, meaning everyone is welcome.  Our goals are to promote and keep the American Indian culture alive, and to pass our cultures on to our children and our children's children.  We would like to provide information and understanding to those interested in the American Indian culture.  We would also like to provide jobs to our brothers and sisters.

By holding community events, networking with other organizations, and working within our communities we hope that understanding, education and learning prevails.

In Memory of our Elders and Advisors...

Mr. Edmund Tepper (Oglala Sioux) "Aki Ko Ka" (1917-2006)

Mr. Tepper left the Trail of the Buffalo American Indian Museum to the Brokenrope Foundation.  Presently, the  museum is in storage until we find another location for the museum and office.

Looking back...

Mae Kingsby (Mdewakanton-Santee Sioux) "Grandma Whitefeather" (1934-2006)

The mother of six children including Nathan Brokenrope, her eldest.  Grandma Whitefeather was a great woman within the American Indian community who was loved and honored.
