Welcome to Brokenrope!

The Brokenrope Foundation was founded in 2004 by Nathan Brokenrope (Mdewakanton Sioux/Oglala) and Carol Anderson (Cherokee) providing a resource for those interested in the Native American Culture and welfare.  In an effort to serve American Indians we have held powwows, gatherings, film festivals, and other events to keep our culture(s) alive and vibrant.  The Brokenrope Foundation is a 501c3 charitable nonprofit.

Our Goals...

Brokenrope Enterprises, LLC, includes the Brokenrope Foundation, Trail of the Buffalo American Indian Museum, and Brokenrope Trucking/Pilot Car Services.

Our events are Intertribal, meaning everyone is welcome.  Our goals are to promote and keep the American Indian culture alive, and to pass our culture(s) on to our children and our children's children.  We would like to provide information and understanding to those interested in the American Indian culture.  We would also like to provide jobs to our brothers and sisters.  We, at Brokenrope, strive to bring understanding and unite our people for strength in the American Indian and Native communities.

By holding community events, networking with other organizations, and working within our communities we hope that understanding, education and learning prevails.  Brokenrope has also been contacted for International speaking engagements in Holland, Germany and France to further share education, cultures, and peoples and in fact, have been invited to Europe next Spring to present programs.  If you have any contacts in Europe who would also like to have us do a presentation, please let us know.

NOTE:  We have found office space in Ventura, CA.  We still need a truck yard!  We should be in our office space by May 2009.

We are currently accepting donations of trucks, reefers, dry vans, and other items to help Native Americans learn and thrive in the trucking industry.

In Memory of our Elders and Advisors...

Mr. Edmund Tepper (Oglala Sioux) "Aki Ko Ka" (1917-2006)

Mr. Tepper left the Trail of the Buffalo American Indian Museum to the Brokenrope Foundation.  Presently, the  museum is in storage until we find another location for the museum and office.

Looking back...

Mae Kingsby (Mdewakanton-Santee Sioux) "Grandma Whitefeather" (1934-2006)

The mother of six children including Nathan Brokenrope, her eldest.  Grandma Whitefeather was a great woman within the American Indian community who was loved and honored.

In Memory of Mr. Coy Bacon #79  (1943-2008)

Coy was an ardent supporter of the Brokenrope Foundation,
taking our cause to members of the National Football League.
Coy worked with many youth groups and causes after his
retirement from the NFL and USFL.  We appreciate all the good
words Coy had for Brokenrope, and we will miss him greatly.

Thanks Coy!

Lupe Dancing Bear, of the Kumeyaay Nation, made an unexpected journey to
the Spirit World on Friday, February 6, 2009.  Lupe was always ready to help
at any time. Good wishes on the next part of your journey.  You will not be
forgotten.
